MOLDOVAN JEWISH COMMUNITY REMEMBERS ELIE WIESEL ON FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF HIS PASSING
This past Motzei Shabat (Saturday night), July 1 2017, Ches Tammuz 5777, over 300 Jews gathered in Moldova, remembering Romanian-born American Jewish writer, professor, political activist, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel. Z”l
For the 28th time This year, men, women and children from the cities of Kishinev and Bendery. Gathered together, and marched in a grand Lag B’omer Parade. The parade left from the Chabad synagogue in Kishinev towards the park, where a huge bonfire was lit in honor of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai
Hundreds of Jews took part in lavish Passover Seders throughout Moldova, in the capital city of Kishinev and in the Prideniestre Region.
Hundred of Jews in Moldova celebrated the holiday of Purim in Moldova this year. Megillat Esther readings, Purim meals, Mishloach Manot, and children’s activities were organized by Chabad of Moldova, for Jews in the towns of Chisinau, Bendery and Tiraspol.
